thoughts on the current update

I'm currently wondering whether or not I'll be dodging bullets after people read this newest update. It's always a concern of mine when...

*SPOILER ALERT READ NO FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE UPDATE*

...women are involved in the story. Jessica received some serious hate (which was expected) and I'm sure Ann will too but I hope people understand that they are entirely different characters with different intentions and personalities. The one thing I don't like about a percentage of the slash fanbase is the hardcore hate that is directed at female characters from that group without taking the other aspects of the character and plot into consideration. But anyway it's totally expected since she's unintentionally wrecking the Sin/Boyd home so whatever.

The reason behind this decision was kind of complicated but I'll try to make it make sense. First of all, it was something I truly believed would happen. These are two characters with a very charged history and when I started thinking about how they would interact, I knew Ann would be very intrigued by the Sin she was finally seeing as opposed to the one dimensional villain she always thought of him as before. The fact that she has all of these other issues in the background and is notoriously known for having been a very sexual person in her younger years on the compound made it pretty likely that she would start to become sexually attracted to Sin. (but like who wouldn't? if anyone took a gander at the pics of Jason Muirbrook, anyone would lust after that kid)

If you throw in the fact that Sin is alienated from basically everyone he thought he could trust and confide in, his fear of telling Boyd everything and the fact that he is notorious for using sex as a vehicle to escape his past, everything just fell into place.

Also keep in mind, Sin doesn't understand the connection between the physical aspect of sex and the feelings and intense emotions that Boyd evokes in him.

So we took took all of that into consideration and we factored in the fact that Boyd and Sin do have a flawed relationship (and that was something we needed to explore in this book) and that they really do need to take a step back from it and see what's going on so that they can become more aware of the situation and what they both want out of it or if they really want it at all.

We knew this would be a situation that would make it impossible for them to ignore the issues they both have individually and as a couple and it would force them to come to terms with that.

So please don't think this is suddenly a ANN AND SIN STAR CROSSED LOVERS story. This is still majorly a slash story with some het elements sprinkled in every now and again. I'm not saying how long this plot arc will last or how it will turn out or if Boyd and Sin even recover from this new obstacle because I don't want to spoil things but keep the STILL A SLASH STORY!!! in mind as you read on and don't be scared off. We wouldn't betray our fans by turning things het at the last minute without some major warnings ahead of time.

I agree with you completely, it makes sense and it seems like something inevitable to happen.

The biggest problem with Boyd and Sin's relationship is that they don't talk about it. So of course they have completely different understanding of it, if any. What is cheating for Boyd is simply stress release for Sin.

I'm also very interested in Ann, I hope she will be able to become a stronger person and sort out her private life.

Sin is learning how to talk about his feelings, Boyd is slowly learning how to be more sociable so when they finally talk about it they have more chances to actually explain at least some of their expectations/needs/fears to each other.

I always found your story to try to be as psychologically believable as possible, you guys are not making an easy-read yaoi but a really well thought out, complicated story which happens to be also slash. So things which will frustrate readers will happen, it's to be expected. Life is not a bed of roses, unless you remember all the thorns that is.

Great chapters, I'm looking forward to the new ones!

I actually think it shouldn't have happened because it's something that always happens in stories: Guy kisses/huggs/whatever with another girl and than the girlfriend gets hurt because she sees it happening. I actually saw all of it coming, I knew Sin was going to do something with Ann and that Boyd was going to find out about it because well...it's kind of a cliche that is used all the time. I was hoping that this cliche would be left out this time but too bad. I can see why you did it but still it seems forced to me. And for a fact that I don't like any woman in my yaoi "ruining" my fav couple or even a guy doing it for that matter. It's childish I know, but I'm a childish yaoi fangirl~
I hope you don't think I'm very negative about how things are going, I still really love this story and I'm always waiting with impatience for the next chapter! And it's the same now ^^

Dodging bullets... good one.

With Jessica, at least at the start, I think it was just Sin being open to sexual stimuli period. So much had changed with him on a personal level. He was curious. A hot woman was coming onto him big time. But he was so attracted to and caught up in the whole mystery surrounding Boyd that he found that what he craved instead of the curves of a woman, were the hard lines of a man - and one in particular. That he realized that and even though he was unsure Boyd returned the attraction, I was impressed that he pulled the plug on the first heated exchange between himself and Jessica.

It makes one wonder what would have happened if there had been more time in Monterrey for Jessica to pursue Sin like the bitch-in-heat she was... would Sin have allowed something to happen? He basically had admitted to her that what he had with Boyd wasn't exclusive.

It seems that Sin is very Me-Oriented - which can be expected since he had been solitary for a number of years. He doesn't like it when Boyd doesn't jump when Sin says jump. And naturally there is the biggest faux pas Boyd made when he slept with Thierry, causing jealousy to rear its ugly head in Sin. Now Sin is pissed because Boyd, as Sin sees it, put the Agency before Sin's need. Sin doesn't see it in any other color but black and white. He doesn't see that he failed to give Boyd adequate reason to believe that the unauthorized meeting and need to talk was important enough for Sin to have breached protocol in the first place. Neither one of these guys can freakin' talk to the other in a way that is open and direct without having months of pent-up anger and aggression stewing, resulting in a detonation that rivals nuclear proportions.

I sort of liked Jessica's character, that she was able to play the sex kitten who was a threat to Boyd's manhood... but I think that with Boyd jealous in that scenario, he was able to identify that he had more than just a fuckbuddy relationship with Sin - or that he wished for more at any rate.

Ann just disgusts me from a doctor/patient standpoint. I do like her character and the fact that she was able to see past her own hatred for Sin to discover that he is a tragedy made real through a lifetime of abuse within his own family and then later perpetuated at the Agency. She is no better than her sister lusting after and using Sin to make herself feel good about herself. Ann needs a shrink of her own. She took advantage of her patient when that patient was definitely in a bad way, certainly not all there, just to satisfy her own personal needs. She's the female equivalent of a man-pig.

Let's hope that Sin at some point finally makes the connection/distinction between sex and love and how one can destroy the other if it is not treated with the proper amount of respect... especially since Boyd had already declared his love for his partner.

It will be interesting to see how these two handle the latest test to their relationship. Communication is vital and they both lack the ability to convey their feelings to each other in a way that is benefical on a good day... and lately, they haven't been talking at all.

Just wanted to say that as much as I might not care for certain turn of events (because, yeah, I don't want to see Sin and Boyd broken apart), it adds to the drama, the angst, and the over all intensity of the story - the current wrench (or wench, I suppose, take your pick) thrown into the works does fit.

Both of your main characters are human, flawed, and have been exposed to horrors in their relatively short lifetimes. No one is perfect. No one thinks exactly the same as another. Not many are bonafide mindreaders. Bringing two individuals together and keeping them together who have so much going against them is a major challenge - that they are even trying is a testament to there being hope for them both. I can't wait to see what you and Sonny have in store for us next.

Sincerely,
sglily

I actually had this fleeting thought when Ann realized that she was attracted to Sin: Ann and Sin would function so much better as a couple. The reason for that is clear - they can actually communicate. I'm really hoping that this somehow transfers into Boyd and Sin's relationships, after all of these trials are over.

I want to thank you guys for throwing these things in Sin and Boyd's way, because at this point it would be so easy for you to shortchange them (or shortchange us, the readers) by letting things die out - you could have done that a while ago. Instead you chose to tackle this enormous, complicated, and realistic depiction of what you're trying to make the most realistic people you can, despite the circumstances you gave them initially. I guess I am glad because I know that I have a reason to stick with this story - because I know I will get closure. So it's okay, don't hesitate to spice things up - we've been with you for so long, we sure as hell are not going to give up because of one little affair. Or at least I won't.

I wasn't very happy with Sin doing that with Ann lol but I'll see where it goes. I'm too emotionally attached to Sin and Boyd and I just want them to be together :P so when Ann and Sin kissed/had sex I was kinda pissed. But in a good way! Not in a way I hate the story and don't want to read further but in a way I can't wait to see what will happen.
